Who We Are
We are a fellowship of believers in Jesus Christ, seeking to grow as disciples and sharing the life-giving healing, hope and love we experience through faith.
Carondelet-Markham Memorial Presbyterian Church has a long and rich history. Like many other urban, mainline churches, our congregation has experienced a great deal of change over the past few decades. New signs of vitality and mission characterize our fellowship, especially through our relationship with the House of Montessori Education which educates as many as 99 children each day in preschool and daycare.
In addition to our traditional worship and fellowship, we now offer several informal seeker series throughout the year that provide a forum for questions about Christianity and explore the faith.
Love is our Mission. With Christ's love alive in our hearts, we reach out to children and youth, members and neighbors, with choir, youth group, women's fellowship, seeker series and small group Bible studies, worship and seasonal events.
"If we're able to fully understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and if we have a faith that can move mountains, but we don't have love, we're nothing.
Love is patient, love is kind. It doesn't envy, it doesn't brag, it's not arrogant. Love isn't rude or self-seeking. It's not easily angered, and it doesn't keep a record of wrongs. Love doesn't take any pleasure in evil - instead, it rejoices with the truth."
(From Paul's letter to the church in Corinth.)
Jesus Christ calls on us to share the good news of a new way to live. Through faith in our Lord, we are praying and working to grow our community; a community that offers God's healing and freedom; a place where forgiveness and mercy rule, and prosperity and opportunity are shared, giving every person the opportunity to thrive and succeed.
